BYE BYE '08(THIS VIDEO IS VERY DISTURBING)

Montreal's black community is asking the federal solicitor general to determine if there are grounds for legal action after a Radio-Canada TV show featured jokes about shooting blacks. Dan Philip, the head of the Black Coalition of Quebec, said today that apologies from the producer and head writer of the annual "Bye Bye" show are insufficient. The New Year's Eve program featured a skit involving a fake French news anchor saying it's practical to have a black U.S. president because he will be more visible in the White House and easier to shoot. Philip says he is also upset over the use of the word "negro" in the Barack Obama sketch, saying some of the show's comments could encourage violence against the black community. Producer Veronique Cloutier and head writer Louis Morissette have apologized and say they are not racist. The program, which was seen by four million TV and Internet viewers, also included a reference to all blacks looking alike.
